Petrini is the founder, prophet and guiding light of the Slow Food Movement, which he brought into italy in 1986. Since 1993 the slow foods collaborated with the teachers in school and ask them to teach the students about how fast foods are bad. The Ark of Taste is a first step in this direction. Slow food might have been started with a meal and some toast. Some people wonder if the slow foods will last forever, and really, i do not know if the world is going to keep on going with this tradition. Slow foods acronym is SFO (Slow Food Organization).

The slow food movement is a movement that rejects the opening of fast food in Italy and places all over the world. This started when McDonalds tried to open in Rome in 1986. Carlo Petrini started the slow food movement about 20 years ago. Carlo knew he needed to start it when 19 people died from poisoning from drinking wine cut with methanol.

The Slow Food movement was a result of the rapid spread of fast- food companies that encouraged farmers to return to old methods of cultivation and grow organic and natural food. The Slow Food movement also encouraged campaigns to promote the production of native foods and cultures to help people learn about the history and culture of communities. In 1986, an Italian food and wine journalist named Carlo Petrini started the Slow Food movement in an attempt to put an end to the fast food companies eroding Italy's ancient culinary culture. One example of a fast food restaurant trying to disrupt Italy’s way of life and the way they produce food is McDonalds. The McDonalds franchise opened up a restaurant on the Spanish Steps in Rome, “the heart of food-obsessed Rome,” (Global Footprints1). This event is what pushed Petrini to start the Slow Food movement.

Carlo Petrini, in 1986, began the "Slow Food Movement". The movement has since then petitioned to remove the McDonald's off of the Spanish steps in Rome. The organization has over 100,000 members. The group aims to try to get people to stop eating quickly prepared, low quality foods, and to revert back to healthy, carefully prepared meals. The movement has even spread through some schools, trying to get the message to reach children as well.

Fast food took the world by storm, flooding most cities and towns with greasy establishments who don't use wholy natural food products. As a counter act, Carlo Petrini, an Italian food and wine journalist, created the slow food moment to prevent fast food chains from spreading in Italy. The fast food chains were eroding the Italian culture and lives of the Italians. For example, once the McDonalds was placed on the Piazza di Spagna in the heart of Italy...he took that as the final straw.

The slow food movement was started by Carlo Petrini. This movement encouraged teachers and students to eat healthier and bring back farming. There should be more farming so there could be more eggs, milk, fresh food, etc. He tried getting rid of the king of fast foods; McDonald's. Therefore allowing Petrini to start his motion.

The slow food movement is essentially the way food should be. McDonalds on the Spanish Steps is agreeably the last straw. The relaxed life style of slow food is healthier and brings people together.

Carlo Petrini introduced the Slow Food movement 20 years ago. It involves preparing foods from scratch using all local and fresh ingredients. Petrini introduced the Slow Food Movement to counteract the introduction of Fast Food. He strongly disagreed with the concepts of fast food because he thinks food should be enjoyed. Food is a way to portray the culture of the land and by replacing small local restaurants with fast food places, people are prohibiting the spread of culture. Eating meals together is supposed to be a traditional time to enjoy food, family, and friends.

The Slow Food moment was founded by Carlo Petrini. It is a reaction to fast food companies. Traditions and culture are being threatened by these massive fast food industries. The Slow Food moment is encouraging people to quit the fast food and go back to traditional, fresh and local grown food. Petrini says "“One cannot recognize and appreciate food and its flavour unless one knows the environment and ecological condition in which the food is grown.”
